WHAT: Black Hills Digital Mapping Association Conference WHEN: Wednesday, December 5, 2012, from 8 am to 3:40 pm WHERE: SD Game, Fish and Parks, Outdoor Campus, 4130 Adventure Trail, Rapid City, SD WHY: Because it’s Educational, Fun, and Provides a Great Opportunity to Meet Others in the South Dakota GIS Community
Please plan to join us on Wednesday, December 5th, 2012, and be part of the largest gathering of GIS professionals in South Dakota. The conference is open to the public, there is no RSVP, and there is no charge. You will be asked to sign-in when you arrive. Lunch and snacks will be included. Feel free to pass this email along to anyone who you might think is interested in attending. If needed, overflow parking for the event is available.
Our speaker lineup is great – please check out our finalized agenda. Please plan to network with both our exhibitors and other conference attendees – this is a great opportunity to meet new people and find out answers to those questions that you just can’t seem to get resolved. Please bring business cards to distribute so that we all have the chance to continue to network after the conference.
The conference is also a documented educational opportunity. For you engineers, surveyors, and GISP certificate holders, we will be offering 5 PDHs (professional development hours) and a certificate of attendance. A PDH/attendance form will be available for you to take with you.
There will be a student poster contest held in the observation area. We will have nomination forms available for attendees to vote on the top three posters. Winners will be announced at 2:30 pm during our afternoon break. Students need not be present to win and prizes will be $200 for first prize, $100 for second prize, and $100 for third prize. Students, please contact Jim Sanovia (jsanovia@olc.edu) to submit your GIS-related posters.
If you are interested in getting more involved in the Black Hills Digital Mapping Association, now is the perfect time. If you know someone you’d like to nominate (including yourself) please submit nominations to Jenny Sorensen (jenifer.sorensen@respec.com).
